Drawings from Lightning is a collaborative publication featuring contributions from 34 artists exploring the natural phenomenon of “Upward Positive Leaders”, a rare event during thunderstorms in which lightning comes from the ground up to the sky. Lightning is the chosen element, a metaphysical symbol, to express the desire and the necessity of working together, a way of rethinking the role of the artist today.
Invited by Laura to participate, I contributed the graphite drawing Am I a Romantic Person? ( 42 x 39.7 cm, 2014), which was included in the artist’s book and exhibited as part of the project in group shows at numerous galleries and institutions. “In this case the development of the drawing bears the very characteristics involved in the capture of the fleeting nature of a moment.
To a certain extent it resembles the process involved in writing, or rather a certain type of writing, precisely because it is something of a quick act of meditation, which has to do with what is not clearly defined.“
