Enza Galantini earned a degree in Stage Design from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan in 1992. After her studies, she worked as a Stage and Costume designer at Teatro alla Scala of Milan. She also had the opportunity to design shows with the Ballet group of a prestigious Italian Theatre La Scala and to work for Sartoria Teatrale Brancato. After this experience, she studied with Alberto Garutti and Anna Sostero at the Brera Academy. In 2004, she took part in different workshops at the Domus Academy, Art Experience “No Vitrines, No Museum, Just a Lot a People” with artists R. Tiravanija, P. Parreno, P. Huyghe, in Venice. After that she continued her research from the threshold of the observation. This inclination was also determined by the nature of her work, which at the time demanded intimate reflection and a very personal, fruition. The distance taken was important and lasted a long time until it became urgent the need of displaying the work made so far. Meeting Lucie Fontaine in 2009 initiated a solo exhibition in three parts: “ non ci sono più zanzare …” ( “ there are no more mosquitoes…”) at the non-profit space, Lucie Fontaine in Milan (2009). In 2011 she had solo shows at galleria Upp in Venice, and at DNA projectbox, where she presented a site specific work to emphasize her connection with the Venetian water city. Additionally, she has taken part in several group shows, amongst others: Kunstraum t27, Kunstverein Neukölln, Berlin (2014), Kunsthalle Eurocenter, Lana BZ (2014), Marianne Boensky Gallery, New York (2011) and at “Focus Italy. Domesticity” curated by Lucie Fontaine within the 5th Prague Biennale, Prague (2011). In 2010 she was part of the group show “Il raccolto d’autunno continua ad essere abbondante” curated by Milovan Farronato and Chiara Agnello at Viafarini in Milan and at No Soul For Sale – A Festival of Independents – X INITIATIVE in New York. After spending about a year in her studio in a relatively isolated place, she decided to counterbalance this last experience by sharing a studio with other artists at VIR Viafarini-in-residence, Milan. She was part of the project “Drawings From Lightning “ curated by Laura Santamaria at Fonderia Artistica Battaglia in Milan and at CHOISI-ONE AT A TIME in Lugano, Switzerland (2016) which travelled to the Biblioteca Civica d’Arte Luigi Poletti in Modena and to Madeinbritaly, London (2017).This October, she will be participating in “The Cosmic Garden” at Villa Erba in Lake Como, curated by Jeff Gleich.
